The Influence of Chinese Culture on Mathematics Education Today

摘要

中國今日的數學教育,重視基本知識和基本技能的教學,並堅持在此基礎上謀求學生的全面發展。這是幾千年來中華文明發展的必然結果。本文從自然環境、社會文化、考試制度、學術特徵、教育傳統等五個方面,論述今日數學教育的文化淵源。

Abstract

Mathematics education in China today emphasizes the teaching of basic knowledge and basic skills; it builds the all-round development of every student on such a foundation. This is a natural consequence of the development of thousands of years of Chinese culture. In this paper, we will discuss the cultural origin of the present mathematics education in China from five perspectives: the natural environment, social culture, examination system, academic features and educational tradition.
