Internship for Beginning Kindergarten Teachers: A Comparative Approach

摘要

首年入職為新任教師帶來重大衝擊,所以不少地區實施師徒式計劃,為新教師提供支援。2003年,師訓與師資諮詢委員會倡議在香港推行新任教師的見習期,可是沒有包括幼兒教師。本文借鑒英格蘭和臺灣推行見習期的經驗,探討於香港推行新幼師見習期是否可行。倘若香港實施以教師職業群主導的新任幼兒教師見習期,幼兒教育的質素將能提升。

Abstract

Beginning Teachers are confronted with numerous challenges especially in their first year of teaching. Therefore, many regions implement a policy of internship to support beginning teachers. In Hong Kong, the Advisory Committee on Teacher Education and Qualifications (ACTEQ) proposed an internship scheme for beginning teachers in 2003; however, kindergarten teachers were excluded from the scheme. This paper examines the experiences of England and Taiwan and explores the feasibility of implementing such an internship scheme for beginning kindergarten teachers in Hong Kong. If a professionally-led internship scheme is implemented for beginning kindergarten teachers, the quality of kindergarten education will be enhanced.
